“Jeopardy” unveils invitational tournament featuring fan-favorite competitors

The lineup includes past "Jeopardy Masters" participants and breakout contestant, Austin Rogers.

Jeopardy is hosting its first-ever invitational tournament, and the field of contestants is set.

The new tournament, casually dubbed JIT, will debut the day after the current Tournament of Champions concludes. It will feature a cadre of champions and fan-favorite trivia masters battling for a $100,000 prize and an invitation to compete in the 2024 Jeopardy Masters primetime event.

The list of competitors includes the internet's favorite Jeopardy competitor (all apologies to Buzzy), Austin Rogers, as well as the players who finished fourth, fifth, and sixth in the 2023 Jeopardy Masters tournament, Andrew He, Amy Schneider, and Sam Buttrey.

The JIT will take place across nine quarterfinal games, three semifinals, and a "best of four" format finale, where the first to win two games takes the JIT crown and scepter (real crown and scepter not included).

Other players who got the elusive invitational invitation include Brandon Blackwell (who is currently on The Chase), Colby Burnett, Lily Chin, Arthur Chu, Leonard Cooper, Celeste DiNucci, Chuck Forrest, Dhruv Gaur, Victoria Groce (also on The Chase right now), Ben Ingram, Matt Jackson, Alex Jacob, Mackenzie Jones, Sam Kavanaugh, Larissa Kelly, Alan Lin, David Madden, Pam Mueller, Terry O'Shea, Dan Pawson, Jennifer Quail, Amy Schneider, Monica Thieu, and Jason Zuffranieri.

The new tournament could start as early as Mar. 14 or as late as Mar. 20, depending on when the Tournament of Champions wraps up.
