This New Year's Eve Jenny McCarthy was not present to host 'Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve,' and her absence was noticed. Many fans were disappointed that she wasn't on their small screen ringing in the new year. Her reason for not hosting, however, is extremely valid. The decision not to host was seemingly her's. She wanted to spend more time with her husband Donnie Wahlberg instead. McCarthy spent a quiet night in with her family on New Year's Eve.

Wahlberg was also pleased with her decision. Despite being in the industry, the New Kids on the Block band member was more than happy to have a mild New Year's Eve and avoid the crowded New York City streets. According to PopCulture, he announced McCarthy's decision around the holidays.

"It's amazing, to be able to spend some time together this Christmas and not have to think, 'We have to leave tomorrow for Times Square for New Year's Eve,'" Wahlberg told Closer Weekly.

"The first New Year's Eve she hosted I performed with New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys. The last one she hosted, I performed again with New Kids on the Block. So her 10-year run of hosting NYE was book-ended with the first day I met her and I got to spend it with her again performing both times, so it's really … it's kind of cool," he continued noting that New Year's Eve is a monumental holiday for the couple.

Wahlberg also pleased with the amount of privacy they had this New Year's Eve.

"You know, it's going to be the first New Year's since we've been together that we don't have to stop kissing at midnight," Wahlberg said. "We won't have Ryan Seacrest in our ear saying, 'Donnie, Jenny, what do you have to say?"

While fans missed McCarthy on 'Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve,' they were ultimate that the 'Masked Singer' judge and her hubby were able to get some much-needed r&r.
