During Sunday’s long-awaited Golden Globe Awards, Brie Larson checked off some impressive bucket list items. In addition to being nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series for the first time for her role in Lessons in Chemistry, she also met one of her biggest idols: Jennifer Lopez.

And while the moment was undeniably a pinch-me moment for the actress, Lopez herself was apparently quite touched by the whole thing too. In a new interview, Lopez, who just released her new single “Can’t Get Enough,” opened up about the special moment she shared with Larson on the carpet.

“It brings tears to my eyes now because it’s very moving,” the Marry Me star told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in an interview recently, per Entertainment Tonight. “You give your heart and soul to this, and when you’re an artist, I think you know that and understand that.”

And, to make matters even more emotional, it seems like Larson’s words immediately brought Lopez back to her fangirl days herself. “I remember being a little girl and watching West Side Story and seeing Rita Moreno and knowing what that meant for me,” she remembered. “When I was looking at Brie and I saw her, and I was just staring in her eyes because she was so locked in with me and just like, ‘I have wanted to tell you this for so long,’ I saw myself. I saw a little girl.” How beautiful!

“And to think that I did that for somebody was really, really overwhelming,” Lopez added.

And if you’re thinking to yourself that Lopez has probably had hundreds of fans fangirling over her over the years, it seems like knowing that Larson, an Oscar winner, was saying those words made it all the more special. “It was very lovely to have an experience like that. I don’t think I ever imagined I would have an experience like that with somebody who is so talented and who I watched their movies,” Lopez explained. “Who is kinda in a way, my contemporary.”

“Even to feel that way, and to express that and to be so kind,” she continued. “That was a very kind thing that she did. And it meant a lot to me, probably even more than it did to her.” Our hearts are so full with this interaction!
