We knew whatever Jennifer Lopez wore to the 2024 Met Gala would be good. We just didn’t know how good. As cochair of this year’s event, which was themed “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” the multihyphenate had her choice of high-fashion options to meet the Garden of Time dress code.

What she went with: a stunning custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture dress, designed by Daniel Roseberry. According to a press release, the strapless gown was made with illusion tulle and embroidered with silver pearls and rhinestones. It took more than 2.5 million silver-foil bugle beads and 800 hours of hand embroidery to make. Her jewelry is by Tiffany & Co., including a Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Bird on a Rock ring that has a yellow diamond of over 4 carats, a white diamond of over 4 carats, and pink sapphires.

Impressed? You’ll be even more so after you take a look at it from every angle.

Lopez has attended the Met Gala more than a dozen times before, and all of her looks through the years have had at least one thing in common: None were designed with comfort in mind. But who needs things like walking or moving your arms or sitting when you can look that good, am I right? Kidding. Maybe.

When asked by Good Morning America earlier if she’d “be able to walk” in her look for the 2024 Met Gala, J.Lo responded, “Barely, ever. The Met Gala looks are not about comfort.”

They can be about fun, though. “It’s always a nice time there,” Jennifer Lopez told GMA. “It’s such an interesting mix of artists and business people. It’s not just music or film, it’s everybody—fashion, film, music, business—and you get to have some really interesting interactions.”

Of course, some of those “interesting” interactions likely included her husband, Ben Affleck. The actor didn’t walk the carpet with J.Lo this year, though he’s attended with her in the past.

The 2024 Met Gala guest list this year also included Lopez’s fellow cochairs Zendaya, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth. Lopez attended a pre–Met Gala dinner with them at Vogue global editorial director Anna Wintour’s home the night before. For that event, the This Is Me…Now artist wore a crystal-studded strapless gown designed by Diana Qerimi and a slick ponytail.

“I was really honored to be asked to host it alongside [them],” Lopez said. “Anna was gracious enough to ask me. We’re going to have a good time.”

In a dress like that? A good time indeed.
