Jennifer Lopez Is Here to Upgrade Your Lip Care Game with JLo Beauty's New Beso Balm Lip Mask (Exclusive)

Over a year in the making, the JLo Beauty founder says she's finally created the formula that has ended her search for the perfect lip balm: here's why

Jennifer Lopez is ringing in the holiday season with a new lip product that is a chef’s kiss.

On Nov. 2, the JLo Beauty founder introduced the Beso Balm Ultra-Hydrating Lip Mask ($19), which plumps, smooths and conditions lips.

The launch was the natural next step for the star, who counts lip care among her ultimate “must-haves.”

“Everyone has those few products that we reach for throughout the day. And a lip balm is that for me,” Lopez tells PEOPLE exclusively.

“It really is the product that you throw in your bag, the one that you keep by your nightstand. Whether I'm putting on my makeup or I've just washed my face and I'm going to bed at night, that's the last thing that goes on. So, after creating the skincare, I was like, ‘We need a great lip balm. That’s what's missing,” Lopez says.

But true to everything Lopez puts her heart into, this is not your average lip balm.

“This is meant to end my search for the perfect lip balm, so I wasn't willing to compromise on this formula,” she says. The texture was very important to me. It’s buttery and it has a glossy finish. So you can wear it during the day, but if you [apply] a little bit extra at night, it's a really hydrating mask.”

“There's nothing really like a glossy finish to make you look instantly pulled together. It's become that final touch on no-makeup days and on full-glam days. And I'd be lying if I said I still didn't want to look a little glamorous when I climb into bed at night.”

The one thing Lopez “drove my team crazy” over was its scent, she says. “We created a sweet flan de vainilla scent that I'm obsessed with. It took over a year to get it right.”

Lopez says there’s one way she knows she’s nailed a balm: when all the samples are gone.

“You know it's a winning formula when everybody around is trying to steal your samples. They're like, ‘You don't need this, right? You're going to get more?’ And then mine would disappear. But I guess it's a good problem to have,” she says with a laugh.

Since launching JLo Beauty in January 2021, Lopez says she still gets “excited” to drop products.

“I only put things out in the world if I feel really good about it. So I'm honestly just counting the days until everyone can try it.”

Not only has that day come, but in a few more days on Nov. 6, Lopez will release six holiday gift sets (available on jlobeauty.com), two of which will include the new balm.

The Gloss & Glow Duo ($49) pairs the lip care with Lopez’s a mini size of her signature That JLo Glow Serum, while the aptly named Jennifer’s Edit ($56) targets the face, lips and booty with the lip mask, as well as a mini face serum, Firm + Flaunt Targeted Booty Balm and That Star Complexion Booster.

The sets are meant to help capture a moment of self-love and self-care, which are at the core of Lopez’s beauty philosophy.

“It is really is [about] embracing who you are, enhancing that and taking care of yourself. That's what I always wanted to share with the world when I created JLo Beauty. It's about skin confidence.”

She continues, “I want other women to be themselves. There's nothing more powerful than a woman who knows who she is and owns it. I mean, we've all got hangups, we've all made mistakes, but those imperfections are what make us beautifully one of a kind."

"So that for me is really what it's about, and all of what JLo Beauty's based on: beauty from the inside out, self-love, self-care. It's all tied together to really become the best version of yourself in all ways.”

“I've always loved the holidays since I was a little girl, but I've really embraced them since I've had kids. The baking cookies, decorations, dressing up, festive music, giving gifts, seriously I can't get enough of it. But I love to spend the quality time with family for sure.”
