Jennifer Lopez has had a slew of impressive accomplishments in 2019 — one of them is hosting Saturday Night Live for the third time. The bombshell hit the stage last night dressed in a tuxedo, with her long, bouncing curls flowing down her shoulders.

“Christmas is such an important time to me because it makes you look back at the past year and think about all of the things you’re thankful for,” she started off her monologue. Luckily for Lopez, she’s had quite a year to reflect upon — which she highlighted throughout her speech.

“This year, I’ve got to be honest, I have been so blessed,” she said, before acknowledging her engagement to Alex Rodriguez, her successful movie Hustlers, her sold-out tour, and even her head-turning look from the 2019 Met Gala.

“I slayed the Met Gala. And that’s not a brag! A doctor diagnosed it as a fourth-degree slay,” she joked. The singer also shed light on her upcoming Super Bowl performance as well as the iconic Versace dress she wore earlier this year which paid tribute to her memorable look from the 2000 Grammy Awards.

“Some people said I look better now than I did then, and I’m not bragging, that’s just, you know, gossip,” she quipped.

“I want to say to everyone watching out there that the best is yet to come,” she concluded her speech. “People try to write you off, you know, it’s all BS. None of us have a shelf life. Look at me, they tried to count me out so many times, but I’m still here.”

To end with a bang, the singer then broke into song and dance to “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” — but she saved the best for last. As the song was coming to a close, she stripped off her tuxedo to reveal the iconic Versace dress she referenced earlier in her monologue. “Now it feels like Christmas,” she said with a smile.

And that’s how you open a show.
