Jennifer Lopez got a 'Fixer Upper' anniversary gift from A-Rod and 'totally fangirled out'

Jennifer Lopez revealed the surprise two-year anniversary gift she got from boyfriend Alex Rodriguez on Wednesday’s Ellen, saying he secretly reached out to Fixer Upper star Joanna Gaines to help the couple with a new project.

When Lopez, 49, “told host Ellen DeGeneres that she is obsessed with the show Fixer Upper, especially after receiving Gaines’ new book from her sister for Christmas. So when she and Rodriguez got “a little fixer-upper next to the water” of their own, Lopez started talking out loud to friends and family and whoever would listen about her dream of having Gaines help with the new home.

“I didn’t even know that Alex listens to me half the time when I’m talking,” she said.

But when their two year anniversary came recently, Rodriguez called Lopez in for “a meeting” about their home by the water.

“He opens up the FaceTime and it’s Joanna Gaines and I was like, ‘Ahh! Ahh! Are you kidding? Hi!’” Lopez said. “I totally fangirled out and she was like, ‘Hi.’ Just like she is on the show, like so cool with her long hair.”

Lopez said Gaines doesn’t like to do any projects outside of her hometown of Waco, Texas in part because of her family, so Lopez was sensitive to that.

“I was like, ‘Yes just help me, just a little bit, you don’t even have to come out here, I know you have the baby. How’s the baby?’” Lopez said.
