Jennifer Lopez and Anthony Ramos have teamed up to create an animated Bob The Builder film. According to Deadline, Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions, Mattel Films, ShadowMachine, and Ramos are set to develop an “inventive international story for today’s audiences.”

Bob The Builder’s animated movie follows Roberto, aka Bob. Bob travels to the Island of Puerto Rico on a once-in-a-lifetime construction job. However, once he arrives, Bob realizes a building isn’t the only thing that needs fixing. The famous children’s architect must tackle issues negatively impacting the island. Bob’s actions also lead to a moment of introspection, allowing him to discover a deeper meaning behind construction. The animated film is set to celebrate the heritage, culture, and vibrancy of Caribbean Latin people.

Felipe Vargas is set to write the movie’s script. Kevin McKeon, Ivan Sanchez, and Arturo Thur De Koós will oversee the movie for Mattel, with Natalie Haack Flores for Nuyorican.

The original Bob The Builder TV show debuted in 1999. It was created for young children in preschool and early elementary. Bob continued building for twelve seasons until he was laid off in 2011. However, Mattel attempted to revamp and reboot the TV show in 2015 with an entirely new art direction. The series was short-lived and only lasted for three years before ending in 2018.

Bob The Builder joins the growing list of movies Mattel Films currently has in development. Other movies on their list of upcoming releases include Magic 8 Ball, American Girl, Wishbone, Barney, Hot Wheels, Masters of the Universe, Polly Pocket, Rock’ Em Sock’ Em Robots, Uno, View-Master, and more

Another project currently in development is Vivica A. Fox’s food competition show. According to DeadlineFamily Recipe Rumble follows two families competing for a $10,000 cash prize. Families partaking in the challenge will also share their stories and reasons for cooking.

For the challenges, contestants will need to cook three meals consisting of modernized twists on classic dishes. The show will also feature special guests who taste and judge the challengers’ dishes.
