There were plenty note-worthy moments from last night’s Golden Globe Awards. Sure, there was amazing red carpet fashion, sentimental speeches, and a few eyebrow-raising jokes. But one sweet clip we can’t get over is Jennifer Lawrence’s reaction to her pal Emma Stone’s Golden Globes win for her performance in Poor Things.
Last night, Naomi Watts and last year’s Golden Globe winner for Everything Everywhere All at Once Michelle Yeoh presented the award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Musical or Comedy to Stone. As soon as the actress got on stage the camera panned the audience for reactions. Upon landing on Lawrence, viewers at home watching could see just how thrilled Lawrence was for her longtime friend. She even joined a number of attendees who gave Stone a standing ovation. Just watch the clip below to see for yourself.

Stone earned rave reviews for her performance in Poor Things as Bella, a young woman brought back to life and engaging with the world as if it was the first time. A front-runner this awards season, we weren’t at all surprised by Stone’s win. And the warm reaction from Lawrence was really the icing on the cake.
Lawrence and Stone’s friendship goes back years. In 2018, the two did a joint interview for W Magazine in which they revealed the inception of their friendship. The two women had a “stalker” — or, as they define it, “this guy that has a lot of people’s phone numbers,” potentially an “agent’s assistant,” Lawrence says — in common, and ended up getting in touch with each other to figure out who the person was. While maybe not the most ideal way for the two women to meet, we’re glad they did nonetheless. They’ve remained incredibly close ever since.
