Jennifer Hudson left out of 'Voice' finale after surprising cuts

Jennifer Hudson dominated the Voice stage Tuesday night when she performed her new single, “Burden Down.” But unfortunately for Hudson, that was the only highlight of her night as Team J.Hud fell just short of the finals.

The three artists immediately sent on to the finale were Chloe Kohanski, Addison Agen, and Brooke Simpson, which was pretty exciting for Brooke’s coach, Miley Cyrus. Miley ran up onstage and hugged Brooke before grabbing the microphone from Carson Daly and saying, “This is my first artist ever in a finale!”

While Miley was super stoked about her artist making the finale, there were two people who were not stoked at all. Keisha Renee and Davon Fleming were the first two eliminated from the semifinals, and before being sent home, Davon shared what he’s learned from this experience. “It taught me that I can be myself,” Davon said, “I came from the gospel industry to come into this world and be able to talk about Christ and be goofy and be accepted.”

So with three artists left, they all had to sing for the last spot in the finals. Red Marlow and Adam Cunningham both went with country classics, while Noah Mac went after a younger audience with a Harry Styles cover. With the performances out of the way, it was up to the fans to vote, and it was a pretty tight race between Noah and Red. But in the end, America leaned a little bit country and voted Red into the finale.

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC. Watch clips and full episodes of The Voice for free on Yahoo View.
