Jennifer Gates Posts Barefoot Family Snap with Mom Melinda and Sister Phoebe: 'Merry and Bright'

Jennifer Gates enjoyed some quality family time with mom Melinda French Gates and 21-year-old sister Phoebe

The Gates family is spending some quality time together.

Melinda French Gates was all smiles in a sweet Instagram photo posted by daughter Jennifer, 27, which appeared to show the group at sea. In the image, the 59-year-old philanthropist and advocate posed for a barefoot snap while standing beside Jennifer and her youngest child, daughter Phoebe, 21.

Jennifer was also barefoot in the photo, which she simply captioned, “merry and bright.”

Last week, Jennifer marked the new year with a carousel of photos that included “a few of the moments that made 2023 so memorable," included a family portrait taken after Jennifer announced the birth of her first child with husband Nayel Nassar in March.

Another highlight was the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's Goalkeepers Foundation event, which all three women attended.

“Can’t wait to see what 2024 brings!” Jennifer wrote.

Melinda also got sentimental on Instagram this week. In a video she shared Tuesday, the mom of three and her youngest daughter recreated a photo they took nearly two decades ago by gently pressing their foreheads together.

“Hope everyone got some memorable photos during the holidays,” French Gates wrote. “You never know when they’ll come back around.”

Ahead of the holidays, the philanthropist and her eldest daughter shared some of their favorite Christmas memories while making some new ornaments.

“We always left out milk and cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer,” Jennifer, who graduated from Columbia University with her master's degree in public health last year, said in the sweet clip.

The new mom went on to share that she loves singing carols. “We are amazing, we were meant to go into the music industry and we ended up somewhere else," she quipped.

Part of what made the year special for French Gates was "just being able to delight in every little thing" that her granddaughter Leila does.

“It’s so incredible to see her grow and so fun to be able to experience it with you too,” Jennifer said, as her mom agreed that was the "greatest joy of the year for sure."
