If anyone is curious about the dynamic between Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, look no further than the 51-year-old actor’s latest project. He will be directing a crime thriller called Animals for Netflix, starring Affleck’s Boston bestie, Matt Damon. But the actress possibly playing Damon’s wife shows just how tight this group is.

Garner is reportedly in contract negotiations to star opposite Damon for Affleck’s next film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. If all goes well with her deal, the movie will start production in Los Angeles in March. The storyline is about a mayoral candidate and his wife who will stop at nothing to save their son after he’s kidnapped. It’s an edge-of-your-seat type of story!

Affleck and Garner, who divorced in 2018, have worked together before, but it was on-screen and ahead of their June 2005 marriage: Pearl Harbor in 2001, Daredevil in 2003, and Elektra in 2005. This would mark the first time Affleck directed his ex-wife in one of his films — and prove that the former couple has healed from the tumultuous events leading up to their split exacerbated by his addiction issues.

An Us Weekly source touched on why Garner and Affleck worked so hard to not only get along for the sake of their children, Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 11, but also for themselves. “Anything that’s happened in the past is water under the bridge,” the source explained “It’s genuinely a copacetic situation all around.” The peacefulness behind the scenes paved the way for them to work together and let Garner’s talents shine.

Affleck and Damon’s Artists Equity production company apparently loves “Jennifer” projects because they are currently promoting Jennifer Lopez’s documentary, This Is Me…Now which was filmed by their studio. The all-in-the-family business approach highlights the “great relationship” everyone in the equation has with each other. “They know the ones who benefit the most are the children and that’s all they care about,” the insider added. “They have a mutual respect for each other as parents and know how well all their kids get along. They want to foster and nurture those relationships and will do whatever it takes to show their support.”
