Jennifer Garner is feeling a little possessive over her iconic 13 Going on 30 dress.

During an appearance on Wednesday's episode of The View, the actress, 51, shared her thoughts on the colorful Versace minidress' blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo in a 2003 episode of Sex and the City. She said that when she saw the look on screen, she found herself thinking, "Get out of my dress! Give me my dress back! I want that dress!"

She also explained how the design — worn by her character Jenna Rink in the 2004 fantasy rom-com's memorable "Thriller" dance scene — ended up on the HBO series a year before her own star turn in it.

"First of all, you’re not supposed to keep your clothes. And I’m a goodie two shoes, so I wasn’t," she said of her filming wardrobe. "And also, who had any idea that that movie was going to be more than just something that just came and went?"

"And yeah, it ended up in a warehouse with other clothes from the movie," she continued of the dress.

Garner also wasn't thrilled that the dress "ended up in the background" of the Sex and the City scene, worn by a theatergoer as Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) and her friends attended Smith Jerrod's (played by Jason Lewis) play. "It was just put on a background player in Sex and the City,' " she jokingly griped.

The actress gave credit to 13 Going on 30's "amazing" costume designer, Susie DeSanto, for sourcing the dress, which went on to become one of the most iconic onscreen looks, inspiring countless Halloween costumes and even celebrity tributes — including Ariana Grande wearing it on a 2021 episode of The Voice.

"We’ve worked together every maybe seven or eight [projects] since then, and she did Family Switch [Garner's new movie]," Garner said of DeSanto. "So she knows how to come up with a good, good fun dress."

So good that Garner wishes it was hanging in her own closet today. "Believe me, we talk about it all the time. We wish!" she replied, when asked if the pair could get it back.

The Golden Globe winner previously spoke about the dress' icon status in an interview with Glamour earlier this year. "Susie and I can't believe how much this dress keeps coming up, and how on Halloween every year there are more Jenna Rinks than fewer," she told the magazine.

She also addressed the Sex and the City cameo. "You will see it show up on a background player kind of scooting into a theater seat, and it just was, you know, a dress pulled out and put on a background player and then who knows where it ended up?" she noted.

"But sadly, I don't have it," she added.

During her View appearance, The Adam Project star also reflected on 13 Going on 30's enduring popularity and how fans still stop her to comment on their love for the movie, which also starred Mark Ruffalo.

"What is it?" she mused of the film's timeless appeal. "It’s out right now on Netflix, and I am really feeling it. Whenever it airs somewhere, people stop me. ‘I watched it again last night.’ "

"It’s so sweet that it’s such a comfort movie for so many people," she added. "It makes me so happy."
