Not only is she grateful to be alive, but she’s grateful to have lived the life she’s lived too. “And I’m grateful for the wisdom that I’ve gleaned out of these years and really grateful to be able to watch other women go through this process of life so gracefully,” Garner continued.

She then went on to share the ultimate advice she has for younger women: “Take care of yourself, but don’t be scared. Aging is a gift.”

In the interview, Garner also outlined the few things in her life that keep her going, including her family and her healthy habits. “I eat really well,” she told the outlet. “I just finished a big bowl of kale and I have a really strong family and strong relationships in my life.”

As a reminder, Garner shares kids Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, with ex-husband Ben Affleck.

And, as a way to put her gratitude into practice, Garner also aims to always “look outside of” herself and help others.

“Every year I do something that I love to include people in that feeds me,” she said about her birthday tradition (her birthday is coming up next month). “Last year I went to a park in L.A. and planted trees with my kids. One year we loaded backpacks up to give kids food to take home with them after school.”

“I know what I’m going to do this year, and it’s coming together,” the Family Switch star said. “To me, that day is about: How am I going to look outside of myself? How am I giving back to the world that gives me so much?”

With so much appreciation for life, and a desire to continue giving back, it’s no wonder that Garner spreads so much light and happiness.
