Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s middle child seemingly debuted their new name at a memorial service for the late William Garner — Jennifer Garner’s father — last weekend. The 15-year-old, formerly known as Seraphina Rose, announced themselves as Fin at the event.

“Hello, my name is Fin Affleck,” the teen said after stepping up to the lectern at the service, per Daily Mail. They also read a Bible verse: “Better is a little with righteousness, than a large income with injustice.”

Fin was dressed in a black suit with a white button-down shirt underneath and a black tie. Their hair was buzzed short, a style which Fin has been wearing for several months. The teen was also spotted with Garner in February, wearing a backpack with “FIN” embroidered on the back, per Daily Mail.

Garner and Affleck (who is now married to Jennifer Lopez and stepdad to her 16-year-old twins Emme and Max) are also parents to Violet, 18, and Samuel, 12. In an interview with Dr. Aliza Pressman on Raising Good Humans earlier this year, Garner opened up about how different her eldest two children are.

“Their personal mission statements and value statements were as if they had never met,” the 13 Going on 30 alum said, referring to a New Year’s Eve tradition of writing down what is important to them for the new year.

Her own personal wish for 2024? That her kids be “funny.” “Please be funny, that’s why I had you,” she joked, noting that all three have a great sense of humor.

Another one of Garner’s goals is to not to be too involved in her kids’ lives. She told PEOPLE last month that it’s “so hard” to let them make their own choices. “I mean, my parents did too, and I’m so amazed by that. I have a really hard time not saying, ‘This is what I see you as,’ and ‘I think you should.’ I really have to sit on my hands.” What mom doesn’t?! It’s hard not to intervene when it comes to your kids, who you love more than anything, but it’s so much better for them to find their own path in life without their parents’ influence.

She added about her kids, “They’re really solid right now, I’m just watching them in this new phase of life where they’re figuring out who they’re going to be and what they’re going to study. And I’m so interested in them. All the time, I’m interested in everything about them.”

These celebrity parents are sharing the struggle — and sweetness — of raising teenagers.
