Jennifer Cooper is the new executive director of the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir
The Indianapolis Symphonic Choir has chosen a familiar face for its new executive director. Jennifer Cooper, who's been in the same role for IndyFringe, started in the new position Monday, according to a release from the choir.
Before she joined IndyFringe in March 2023, she was executive director of the Montana International Choral Festival.
The 87-year-old Indianapolis Symphonic Choir is known for its Festival of Carols each December — a mainstay of Circle City holiday events. Among the ensembles' staples are the "Mood Indigo" tribute to jazz and the American Songbook as well as the “Voices of the Spirit” productions that showcase large works for orchestra and chorus. In May, the chorus will tour Brazil.
Cooper, who is a United Kingdom native, has a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and an MBA from the University of Montana School of Business. As a flutist, she has taught and performed in Brazil, Austria, England, Ireland, Canada and the U.S.
