At last! After years of wondering, Jennifer Aniston gave a Ross and Rachel update to Friends fans. Since NBC’s beloved sitcom ended in 2004, curiosity over what happened between the central couple has continued to grow. Did they make it work after Ross’ dramatic airport declaration of love? Well, thanks to Aniston’s brand-new Instagram, fans finally know what the actress thinks became of the on-again/off-again TV couple.

On Tuesday, Aniston made her way to social media at long last by joining Instagram with a record-breaking post that featured the whole Friends gang: Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, and, of course, Aniston herself. Already killing the ‘Gram game, Aniston aptly captioned the group photo, “And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM.”

That wasn’t the end of her Friend-ly debut, though. Speaking for all of us, former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe slid into the comment feed to ask what was clearly the most important question. “ARE YOU AND ROSS STILL TOGETHER!!???” she asked, to which Aniston cheekily replied, “Well we’re on a break.”

As any self-respecting Friends fan knows, a running joke throughout the sitcom’s history was whether or not Ross and Rachel were on a break when he hooked up with someone else. Couple that with their frequent making up and breaking up, it was the shtick that kept on giving.

If the idea that Ross and Rachel aren’t together after everything is too much for your tender Friends-loving heart to bear, consider this: Marta Kauffman, co-creator of the show, has a more optimistic outlook. At the Tribeca Film Festival’s 25th Anniversary Celebration of Friends on September 13, she shared her own vision of where the Friends characters are now.

“I think Monica and Chandler are together. They have their twins. They’re doing great. Joey, I think, has six kids. I think he’s married and has six kids,” Kauffman suggested, also imagining that Phoebe and Mike are happy and have gone on to foster or adopt kids.

As for the series’ most conflicted couple? “I think Ross and Rachel are still together, and Emma’s in therapy!” Kauffman said. That definitely makes sense: Ross and Rachel always figured that singing “Baby Got Back” to their daughter during her early years might come back to haunt them.

So, there you have it. Depending on how you felt about Ross and Rachel’s tumultuous romance, you can choose to take Aniston’s version of the Friends couple’s future or leave it. That said, it does seem like Aniston would have the inside scoop on her character.
