Netflix's original movie Murder Mystery is getting a sequel, with original stars Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston set to reprise their roles.

As reported by Deadline, the movie has lined up Jeremy Garelick to direct and polish up a script form James Vanderbilt, who wrote the first movie. Garelick has scriptwriting credits on films like The Hangover, and previously directed The Wedding Ringer.

The publication also states that the movie is being fast-tracked to start production in both Paris and the Caribbean.

When Digital Spy reviewed the first film in 2019, we didn't think it was anything exceptional, but it was one of the better Adam Sandler comedies and its mindlessness was something of a tonic to all the shared universe movies out at the same time (which hasn't really calmed down at all since then, has it?).

Despite its reception, the film actually broke records for the streaming service, with over 30 million accounts watching the film across its first three days. Its approach of releasing films that probably would have flown under the radar in cinemas, but is appealing enough for curious viewers at home was a novelty back in 2019, but has really taken off since then.

It isn't the only Sandler film that Netflix has in the pipeline. A film currently titled Spaceman is in the works, which is set to be a serious drama featuring the actor and Carey Mulligan.
