Jenna Dewan-Tatum: What Channing Didn’t Wear the Night We Sealed the Deal
On Tuesday’s Ellen Degeneres Show, World of Dance star Jenna Dewan-Tatum revealed how she and husband Channing Tatum committed to a relationship on the set of Step Up, and it wasn’t exactly conventional.
According to the actress, there had been chemistry between the co-stars, but she’d made it clear to him she was interested in a relationship, not a fling. After a few days and a booze-filled night out, Jenna found Channing knocking at her hotel room door at 2 a.m. in nothing but underwear, Ugg boots, and a sombrero. “Let’s do this,” the Magic Mike XXL star apparently said.
Now that’s romance. Less romantic is the morning after, when everyone’s scrambling to track down your newly beloved, and you’ve got to come clean about your little rendezvous, as was the case for Dewan-Tatum when PAs scoured the hotel for an oversleeping Channing Tatum, who never showed up to set. Dewan-Tatum says she had to pull an aide aside and admit Channing was still in her room. Word on set spreads quick, and before long the secret was out.
Never one to miss an opportunity for a good plug, Ellen presents a visual recreation of what Channing might’ve looked like that night, complete with a pair of Ellen-brand boxer briefs. “So men,” she summed up, “You know how to get a lady now. You just knock on the door in a sombrero and Ugg boots at two in the morning, and say, ‘Let’s do this.'”
