Jenna Bush Hager's family is getting ready for Halloween.

Chatting with co-host Hoda Kotb, 59, last week, the mom of three, 41, revealed, "We've already been talking about what everyone’s going to be for Halloween in our household."

"What are we looking at?" Kotb asked.

Bush Hager took a breath as she explained, "Hal wants to be a New York City rat. Not just a rat, but a New York City rat, so a special kind of breed."

Kotb asked, "So bigger than normal?"

"Large, maybe pizza in half of its mouth," Bush Hager replied of her 4-year-old's idea.

Daughters Poppy, 8, and Mila, 10. have some simpler ideas.

"Poppy is going to be the character from Clueless, which she’s never seen. And Mila, the last I checked, was going to be one of Taylor Swift’s albums," the mom explained, adding, "I think Lover."

In July, Bush Hager talked about how Hal learned to swim while on a family vacation with the kids and husband Henry Hager.

"Hal learned to swim!" she shared. "He swam to that dock, but on Henry's back. That's an ocean..."

"Wait a minute...the fact that he's out there?" Kotb said. "I know, believe me." Bush Hager replied.

"Were you scared?" Kotb asked. When Bush Hager replied affirmatively, Kotb continued, "Letting your child do scary things supervised is the hardest thing as a grown-up."

"I actually just closed my eyes and let him handle it. Cause I don't want to be a backseat parent," Bush Hager noted.

Last month, Bush Hager opened up about what is most important to her as her three kids continue to get older.

"I spend almost all my time in parenting, trying to raise kind kids," said Bush Hager. "I don't really care about any of the other stuff."

"Yes, I agree with you," added Kotb, a mom of two.

"I mean, they're smart, great. But I don't care that they're number one in their class, or go to good schools. I just want them to be the type of kids that are kind," Bush Hager continued.

"And then coolness just comes too," she joked.
