Jenna Bush Hager jokes sunglasses kept Prince Harry from dating her twin Barbara

Former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager said she might have become a royal sister-in-law -- if it weren't for some pesky sunglasses.

According to People and Us Weekly, Hager recalled her 2016 interview with Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex during Friday's episode of the "Today" show. According to Hager, sunglasses ruined her attempt to set the prince up on a blind date with her twin Barbara.

“He has really beautiful light eyes, which are sensitive to the sun. I know because my daughters have light eyes,” Hager said. “Prince Harry was like, ‘We have to wear sunglasses, don’t you think? I was like, ‘Well, if he says it’s okay!' "

This decision, however, thwarted Hager's royal aspirations, as she said the accessories put a “barrier between" her and the Duke of Sussex.

“I felt like maybe if he could see straight into my eyes,” she said. “That could have worked if my sunglasses weren’t blocking.

"But, you know what, I have a single sister, and she feels the same way," Hager said. "Listen, she's available. She's gonna kill me."
