Jemaine Clement claims Flight of the Conchords will have 2018 HBO special
We’re not crying, it’s just been raining on our face… because of the news that Flight of the Conchords will be returning to our televisions.
The popular series, created by and starring Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, is poised to return for a 2018 HBO special, Indiewire reports. Clement confirmed the news tat the Television Critics Association press tour on Friday. HBO did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Clement shared few details, but it appears the special will be timed to their upcoming U.K. and Ireland tour dates in March and April. The Conchords previously toured the U.S. in 2016. The original television series only had two short-lived seasons of 12 episodes in 2008 and 10 episodes in 2009.
For fans Clement’s 2014 vampire mockumentary film What We Do in the Shadows, which he co-wrote with Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, Clement had additional good news. The film is in development as a U.S. television series and is aiming to shoot a pilot later this year. No networks were named, but Clement said the show will follow a documentary crew in America. This is similar to the original film, which saw a documentary crew in New Zealand tracking four vampire roommates — Viago, Vladislav, Deacon, and Petyr.
If you can’t get enough of Clement’s comedic (and musical) stylings, it seems there is plenty in the pipeline though no dates have been confirmed as of yet.
