Jeff Ross Allegedly Ignored the One Off-Limits Topic at Netflix's Tom Brady Roast

It turns out Tom Brady was perhaps justified for his terse exchange with Jeff Ross during his Netflix roast on Sunday. According to comedian Andrew Schulz, who also did a set during the special, any jokes pertaining to the Robert Kraft massage parlor scandal were strictly off-limits.

Schulz dropped the reveal on the latest episode of his Flagrant podcast on Wednesday. "When Tom checked Jeff Ross? I think that was 100 percent real," he explained. "The reason why I think it's real is because they told us no jokes about happy endings with Bob Kraft."

Schulz elaborated that he, too, had planned a Robert Kraft joke that the organizers shot down prior to the show.

"They were like, Tom asked us not to do anything with the massage sh--t," he recalled. "I was like, all right, cool, the guy's coming here for this thing, like whatever, he's not getting roasted, he's sitting in the f--cking stands ... and then Jeff did it and Tom walks up and he goes, 'Yo, cut that s--t out.'"

In the viral moment that was later cut from the show, Ross joked about a quote Brady had told the Patriots owner after being drafted 199th in the 2000 NFL Draft.

"On the first day of training camp that scrawny rookie famously walked into the owner Robert Kraft's office and said, 'I'm the best decision your organization has ever made,'" Ross said during the live broadcast, adding the punchline: "Would you like a massage?"

In response, Brady approached Ross from the side of the stage and said into his ear: "Don’t say that s--t again."

However, Schulz suggested that he respected Brady for intervening the way he did.

"But think about it, this is the first comic that goes on a live roast and it's your night," he continued. "He was ready to shut the whole thing down. That's an alpha-ass move right there for this guy who basically let him go. Bob Craft didn't re-sign him and he still feels that kind of loyalty."

For his part, Ross later downplayed the incident during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show on Monday, denying that Brady was actually upset over the joke.

"He was having fun," Ross said of Brady. "Tom loves the roast. He’s a student of the roasts. If you love the roast … everyone wants to be the center of attention, even when there is a target on their back. It’s all about him for three hours."
