Jeff Probst Recalls Hosting 'Worst Emmys Ever'

No one will argue that Survivor host Jeff Probst is great at his job. But there was a time he wasn’t a very good host — and on one of the most important nights of his career. In 2008, Probst — along with Tom Bergeron, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Ryan Seacrest — hosted the Emmy Awards. They were all nominated in the brand-new Outstanding Reality TV Host category — and they all embarrassed themselves that night. Admits Probst, “I will say what everyone else will say: It was one of the worst Emmys ever.”

In fact, the previous night, he had admitted to Jimmy Kimmel that the five of them “had nothing” prepared. And Kimmel had warned, “You’re going to bomb.” Oh, and bomb they did.

The new season of Survivor premieres Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. on CBS.

The 67th Emmy Awards air Sept. 20 on Fox. Be sure to tune into Yahoo’s live Emmys pre-show on Sept. 20 at 3:30 p.m. PT/ 6:30 p.m. ET.
