Jeezy to Drop Double Album on 'Trauma, Obstacles and Personal Growth' amid Jeannie Mai Divorce

'I Might Forgive... But I Don't Forget' will be available to stream on Friday

Jeezy is getting personal on his upcoming album.

Earlier this week, the 46-year-old rapper announced the arrival of his double album I Might Forgive... But I Don't Forget on Friday, which promises to delve into "topics and people that have shaped him both personally and professionally."

"On both albums, Jeezy reflects on the trauma, obstacles, and personal growth he has experienced on his journey to stardom, success, and independence," a press release states.

Adding, "Following the release of his New York Times bestselling memoir, Adversity for Sale, Jeezy embraced therapy as a vital tool for understanding his trauma and charting a path forward in life." (Adversity for Sale released on Aug. 8)

The announcement comes less than two months after he filed for divorce from estranged wife Jeannie Mai Jenkins in Atlanta, Georgia, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE. The filing says the pair are "currently living in a bona fide state of separation," and that their marriage is "irretrievably broken" with "no hope for reconciliation."

The divorce document also states that Jeezy wants to share joint legal custody of their 21-month-old daughter Monaco. He's also a dad to two children from previous relationships.

One month after he filed, he broke his silence and released a statement about the decision he and the host of The Real, 44, made to end their marriage after two-and-a-half years.

“The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart,” the Grammy-nominated artist said. “Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart.”

Jeezy (whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins) also referred to Monaco. He said, “Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves.”

“During this period, I kindly request that you respect our family’s privacy as we focus on healing,” the hip-hop star’s statement concluded.

I Might Forgive...But I Don't Forget follows Jeezy's 2022 albums GOATED: Jeezy and SNOFALL, which was a collaborative album with Dj Drama.
