Jeezy accused Jeannie Mai Jenkins of acting as a "gatekeeper" of their daughter in a new court filing asking a judge for hearing to set "clearly defined" temporary legal and physical custody rights amid their divorce.

PEOPLE obtained a copy of the court documents filed in Fulton County on Thursday on behalf of the “Put On” artist, 46, who requested that a judge “address temporary custodial arrangements.”

Jeezy (born Jay Wayne Jenkins) and Mai Jenkins, 44, share 23-month-old daughter Monaco. The rapper filed for divorce in September after two years of marriage.

According to the new filing, both parties “agreed upon a visitation schedule through the end of 2023.” However, the situation is “becoming increasingly less feasible.”

PEOPLE has reached out to reps for Jeezy and Mai Jenkins for comments, but did not immediately hear back.

“The lack of consistency, continuity and stability inherently associated with such a haphazard and fluid parenting time schedule is stressful to the Child (Monaco), and it has, as is unfortunately inevitable with all families in transition, created unnecessary tension and confusion regarding not only parenting time but also in regard to each parent’s role and rights when the Child is in their respective custody,” the document states.

In the filing, Jeezy’s legal counsel states that while the “Soul Survivor” artist “does not believe that [Mai Jenkins] is acting maliciously or with specific intent to harm,” he does suspect that she “has acted as a gatekeeper when it comes to [Jeezy] exercising parenting time with [Monaco].”

He alleges that the former The Real co-host is “causing confusion and tension between  the parties and is working to stifle the development” between Jeezy and their toddler.

As a result, the “Way Too Gone” rapper is requesting that the court “separate, structure and clearly define the parties’ temporary legal and physical custody rights and set a parenting time schedule consistent with the best interests of the Child.”

Per the documents, Jeezy believes a custody hearing would “serve to protect the Child’s welfare, reduce strife between the parties, and help move this case to a final resolution.”

The filing also highlights “the present long-distance nature of the parties’ co-parenting of the Child and associated difficulties” as a reason for custody to be granted.

Mai Jenkins previously spoke to PEOPLE about how she managed to work in different locations with Monaco.

"I actually shot my first ever cooking show, called America's Test Kitchen: The Next Generation, with Monaco by my side. So I flew her to Boston, she stayed with Mommy for three and a half months and we shot the show, the television personality said last November.

In October, the Grammy-nominated artist shared a statement one month after filing for divorce.

“The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart," Jeezy's statement read. "Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart.”
