The musician, born Jay Wayne Jenkins, caused a stir in September by filing to end his two-year marriage to Mai. When the "Sherri" host asked how the mother of one was enduring the aftermath, the 44-year-old confessed to being vulnerable.

"I'm not going to lie, you know, it takes every day to just really sit and just be quiet in your thoughts, take care of me. But one thing I know is, you give God your pain, he will give you his power," the TV personality declared, adding, "Period" amidst the crowd's supportive cheers.

Mai reaffirmed her dependence on God during this challenging transition, jokingly saying: "So every day I'm like 'Here you go. You got room for more? Here's some more.' Just taking it day by day, you know." Shepherd reflected on her own divorce, noting it helped to put on "the blinders" and not focus on everything else.

The soon-to-be divorcee agreed, revealing she had gone off the grid following Jeezy's move to dissolve their union. In the media personality's words, "Turning off everything helps too. You know, after that moment, I just turned off every single device in my house, and I really tuned into the voices that I really needed to hear, which was me and the truth."

When Shepherd asked how motherhood has helped the San Jose native through her divorce, the 44-year-old confessed: "You know, Monaco, that is my North Star, and I can definitely tell you that I don't know if I would handle this the same way without her."

"Because today I'm able to look at her, and I can say, 'What would I advise you if you were in my shoes?' And it changes everything. So I'm so thankful to be a mom and thankful to have her," the Daytime Emmy Award winner said.

While still discussing the adorable Monaco, Shepherd shared a fun clip of the toddler dancing when she met her mom at the airport. The heartwarming memory caused Mai to gush about her precious angel, describing it as one of the rare moments her daughter openly showed her affectionate side.

The proud mother noted she could picture herself dancing with the 1-year-old in the next twenty years. Additionally, she raved about Monaco's bilingual gifts, jokingly stating the little girl only had trouble making animal sounds in English and Vietnamese languages. "To be a proud Black Vietnamese woman in America, that's all I need from that little girl," Mai concluded.

"The Real" co-host's interview came shortly after her return to Instagram following a brief hiatus. In her first post after the divorce news, the NAACP Image Award winner shared an image of a handwritten note with the message, "Sometimes, You Need To Take a Break and Disconnect to Heal."

Jeannie Mai & Jeezy Are Still Living Together Despite Their Divorce

Weeks before Mai opened up about her separation on Shepherd's talk show, sources revealed the 44-year-old "awkward" living conditions with her estranged husband. According to insiders, the duo continued living under the same roof, causing them to feel uncomfortable.

“Jeezy and Jeannie are still living together in Georgia, but there’s very little interaction going down between them — they cross paths as they come and go from the house, but that’s about it,” the informants claimed. The pair reportedly signed a prenuptial agreement. However, the document did not favor Mai.

According to sources, the TV personality was blindsided by Jeezy's divorce filing and refused to accept the end of their two-year marriage.“The truth is Jeannie wants her marriage to work and wants her family to be one solid unit. She is devastated that Jeezy filed for divorce,” an insider claimed.

“[Jeannie] deeply loves Jeezy, and she wants to work things out. She did not get married to get divorced. This was not a part of the plan. This is not how she ever imagined things would go down,” the source added.
