Following Jeannie Mai Jenkins breaking her silence about her divorce from Jeezy on Wednesday (Oct. 11), she appeared on the Sherri Shepherd show and elaborated on the situation. The former The Real host expressed to Sherri this week about how her daughter Monaco has been her guiding light amid the “devastating” divorce.

On Friday’s episode, the 44-year-old said, “Monaco? That is my North Star,” in response to Sherri asking her how she’s doing amid her split from the “Put On” rapper. “I can definitely tell you that, I don’t know if I would handle this the same way without her because today, I’m able to look at her and I can say, ‘What would I advise you if you were in my shoes?’ And it changes everything.”

“So I’m so thankful to be a mom, and I’m thankful to have her.”

Ahead of her appearance on the daytime program, Jenkins took to Instagram sharing a simple quote, which many assumed was about her divorce.

“Sometimes, you need to take a break and disconnect, to heal,” read words written on a notepad.

She captioned the post with a black heart.

Jenkins and Jeezy, né Jay Wayne Jenkins, tied the knot in March 2021 at their home in Atlanta. The following year, the couple welcomed their daughter Monaco in January.

Just last month, it came to many’s surprise when Jeezy filed for divorce from Jeannie after a little over two years of marriage. As reported, the divorce was filed in Atlanta, describing the couple’s relationship as “currently living in a bona fide state of separation.”

Documents also included a reasoning for the divorce as “irretrievably broken” with “no hope for reconciliation.”

Reportedly, Jeezy has requested joint custody of Monaco, and has yet to speak out on his marriage status. A source reportedly told PEOPLE that she’s “hurt and devastated” by the separation.

“They’ve had issues for a long time, but things got really hard over the last few months,” shared the source. “She obviously knew they had problems, but she wasn’t expecting a divorce. Now she’s trying to figure out what her future looks like and where she’ll be living.”
