Jeezy has claimed that his estranged wife, Jeannie Mai Jenkins, has been “gatekeeping” their daughter from him. In rebuttal, Mai has denied the accusations and voiced concerns about “unsecure firearms” being in Jeezy’s home.

The former daytime TV host‘s legal team stated, “It is essential to clarify that Ms. Jenkins’ insistence on reasonable safety measures being put in place, such as safely securing and locking away all firearms that have been unsecured in the past, as well as having familiarity and properly trained caregivers is absolutely not gatekeeping, but rather a responsible effort to prioritize their daughter’s well-being,” the filing read according to PEOPLE.

It adds, “These requests are grounded in Ms. Jenkins’ genuine concern for the parties’ daughter’s safety and security, especially when under the care of others and traveling across the country, and are reasonable protective measures, not an attempt to restrict Mr. Jenkins’ access to their daughter.”

The recently separated couple reportedly, “agreed upon a visitation schedule through the end of 2023.” However, the arrangements have “become increasingly less feasible.”

Reps for Jeezy, né Jay Wayne Jenkins stated, “The lack of consistency, continuity and stability inherently associated with such a haphazard and fluid parenting time schedule is stressful to the Child (Monaco), and it has, as is unfortunately inevitable with all families in transition, created unnecessary tension and confusion regarding not only parenting time but also in regard to each parent’s role and rights when the Child is in their respective custody.”

The “Trap or Die,” rapper filed for divorce from Mai in September after two years of marriage. Upon the breaking news, Jeezy publicly announced, “The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart. Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart.”

“Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves.” Jeezy concluded by asking that “you respect our family’s privacy as we focus on healing.”

Mai opened up about the ongoing divorce while visiting The Jennifer Hudson show recently. She gave an update on how she’s been doing since the news broke, which she says “gutted” her.

“I think I’m doing better now,” Mai said at the time. “At the time, when I found out at the same time as the rest of the world that my marriage was ending in divorce, I was gutted. Today, it’s about picking up the pieces. It’s about discovering me and being a mom to the best blessing in my life, my little girl.”

Mai added, “Even though this year I met the most broken version of me, I also met the strongest version of me today.”
