Jeannie Mai's Ex-Husband's Girlfriend Accuses Star of 'Making Up Lies for More Attention'
Jeannie Mai‘s ex-husband’s new girlfriend has a message for the tv personality.
On Friday’s episode of The Real, Mai, 40, opened up to her co-hosts Adrienne Bailon Houghton, Loni Love and guest host NeNe Leakes about having to pay alimony to ex Freddy Harteis.
“I was married to someone who had more money than me, but because I was the stronger earner and we lived in California — a shocking thing slapped me in the face when we divorced and I had to end up paying him my earnings,” Mai explained before adding that the experience taught her a lesson about “looking out for myself.”
The clip was then shared on Instagram, prompting a number of viewers to show their support of Mai. But not everyone agreed with Mai, with Harteis’ girlfriend Linsey Toole breaking her silence to slam the star.
“Looking out for YOURSELF is why you’re STILL miserable,” Toole wrote in the comment section of the post.

“Your complete focus on YOURSELF is why you’re DIVORCED. YOURSELF being the most important thing to you in the entire world is why you keep making up LIES for MORE attention.”
“Ain’t nobody talking about YOU. Because we don’t care! Stop trying to tear someone down who has done absolutely NOTHING to you,” Toole continued. “Never one time has Freddy brought up your name or drug it through the mud where it belongs.”
“Every week you got some new dramatic story so that you can more pity and more attention. How many more lies are you going to make up before you are satisfied? Freddy and I are both working our butts off to have what we have. Not because you gave anything. Freddy walked away from 1 MILLION dollars so he could finally give our family peace. And God has blessed him fruitfully in doing so! Let it go. Stop trying to make up things for people to feel sorry for you.”
“You made Freddy signed [sic] to keep his mouth closed. I didn’t sign for this very reason,” Toole wrote.
Toole then threatened to expose Mai further if she continued to talk down on Harteis.
“I knew you would come back at his throat again. I will speak the truth Jeanie [sic]. I’m pre-warning that I will tell what really happened if you continue to publicly lie and humiliate Freddy!”
Toole also shared a clip from the episode on her Instagram Stories, slamming it as “fake news.” “Ratings must be down again. Waiting on that alimony check,” Toole wrote.
A rep for Mai did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Mai and Harteis announced their divorce in October 2017. Just six months after news of their split broke, Harteis revealed he was expecting his first child with Toole. Harteis and Toole welcomed a baby girl in October 2018.
Since their divorce, Mai has been candid about the stress it’s caused ever, even revealing that if she could turn back time, she wouldn’t have even married Harteis.
“Knowing what I know now about who I married, I wouldn’t have married him,” Mai said, holding back tears, on an episode of The Real in October.
“It’s just crazy. You hear all the time that money can change people. Well, divorce can really change people. It’s just so weird because the one thing that he would always say back then is like, ‘You really, truly don’t know a person until they don’t get what they want.’ But I never thought he would be the one to prove that to me,” Mai explained as she began to cry.
Though the exes were amicable when their split was announced, they are no longer on good terms.
“It f—— sucks. It’s terrible,” Mai said on an episode of The Breakfast Club, opening up about her divorce.
“You wake up with a rock in your heart and you feel like you can’t really make it through the day because it’s just so heavy. Especially when finances get involved. Especially when people change,” Mai continued.
Mai said she felt her and Harteis’ divorce “turned when, I would say, when money got involved, and ego.”
She also addressed the reason for their split, saying the fact that she does not want to have children wasn’t the only factor.
Nonetheless, Mai has since began dating again.

In January, Mai revealed she’s been spending a lot of quality time with rapper Young Jeezy after friend Malika Haqq shared a photo of Mai and the rapper together on Instagram.
“You guys know that I’m multi-dating right?” Mai explained to her co-hosts Loni Love and Tamera Mowry after Adrienne Bailon questioned her relationship status.
“Jeezy and I hang out,” Mai continued. “He’s very special to me, so we don’t really have a label to define what it is we’re doing. We’re just having a good time together.”
