PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Local jazz club, The 1905, announced Wednesday that they will be reopening their doors this week after their closure in November.

Just 154 days after its closure, the club will be opening its doors on April 19 under new management.

The club, which originally closed due to financial issues, announced they would be reopening back in February with no confirmed date.

The new manager, Chris Pfeifer, who has worked at other local bars Barrel Room and Chandelier, shared that it has taken a lot of work, but they are excited to get the place up and running.

“It’s been a true group effort from top to bottom getting the club refreshed and ready to serve its patrons within such a short window,” Pfeifer said.

The 2024 season begins on April 19 with Portland’s Christopher Brown and then Farnell Newton playing on April 20.

The 1905 really is one of the best jazz clubs in the world, it’s like walking into Manhattan without the five-hour flight,” said George Colligan, a Portland jazz pianist and band leader. “We are truly lucky to have this venue in Portland.”

According to the 1905, they will continue to add shows and they hope to have the balance of the 2024 season booked soon.
