Jazmine Sullivan continues to blow fans away with her soulful R&B voice. Her latest offering came at the 2023 Macy’s Fireworks show in New York City.

On July 4, many gathered to witness the experience featuring artists from different genres. Along with the “Need U Bad” singer, Ja Rule, Ashanti, Bebe Rexha, LL Cool J, and more hit the event’s stage. The annual celebration also honored trailblazers, including the late rock ‘n roll legend Tina Turner, ABC7 shared.

Today (June 5), Sullivan posted a clip on social media of her performance at the event. “Thanks, Macy’s Fireworks [and] NBC, for having me! Special thanks to Ray Chew for the beautiful arrangement!” Sullivan wrote on Instagram. “Black national anthem.”

Chew also spoke online about being a part of this year’s celebration and being able to pay tribute to several individuals. The music composer said, “It is such a privilege to pay homage to my friend and mentor Paul Riser in the Fireworks Score. He was the arranger and co-leader of the Funk Brothers and responsible for a lot of great music that we all enjoy from Motown. In addition, being able to tribute our queen, Tina Turner, is an honor I will forever cherish.”

After several musical performances, attendees enjoyed a 25-minute firework show to cap off the celebration, the news outlet mentioned. “In partnership with the city of New York, we were excited to surprise our spectators with the first-ever live drone show in NYC ahead of the start of the iconic Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks,” Will Coss, executive producer of the show, stated. “Millions of Americans had a front-row seat as 500 drone lights extended the musical performance stage, created awe-inspiring shapes above the East River, and introduced the first seconds of the nation’s biggest Independence Day celebration.”
