Just a few days after JayDaYoungan was shot and killed in Louisiana, the late rapper’s father has shared further details about the fatal shooting.

In a conversation with TMZ, Kenyatta Scott, who remains hospitalized after he was shot alongside JayDaYoungan on Wednesday, said he and his son were “ambushed by five gunmen.”

According to Scott, the pair was sitting in the front yard of their Louisiana home when a black truck pulled up and three people jumped out with guns. As Scott and JayDaYoungan attempted to run inside for cover, two more people approached them from the side of their house, at which point the group of men opened fire. Scott claims he was shot twice in the arm, while his son was struck at least eight times.

Scott went on to say that he doesn’t believe JayDaYoungan knew the gunmen, nor does he think the shooting was gang-related.

On Wednesday, the 24-year-old Louisiana native was killed in a shooting that occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Bogalusa Police Chief Kendall Bullen confirmed the details contained in a Facebook post with Complex.

“We can now identify the victims as Javorius Scott, A.K.A. JayDaYoungan and close family member Kenyatta Scott Sr,” Bogalusa PD wrote. “We can also confirm that Javorius Scott has died as a result of his injuries. Kenyatta Scott Sr. has been transported to another facility and we have been told he is in stable condition.”

The post continued, “Detectives are currently conducting interviews and working leads. Further information will follow as it becomes available.”
