JAY-Z Pulls Out of Woodstock 50: Report

John Fogerty has also reportedly removed himself from the beleaguered festival, which will now take place in Maryland after failing to secure a New York location

JAY-Z will reportedly no longer be performing at Woodstock 50, according to the Associated Press, which cited a “person familiar with the situation” who spoke under the condition of anonymity. TMZ reports that in addition to JAY-Z, John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival has dropped out as well.

Woodstock 50 organizers told the New York Times yesterday that the festival—which had failed to secure a New York venue for the fest—would now be taking place at the iconic Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland instead. While the festival is still set to take place during the originally scheduled weekend of August 16-18, the final lineup and ticket on-sale date have yet to materialize. The original lineup, announced back in March, included Dead & Company, Chance the Rapper, the Killers, Run the Jewels, Miley Cyrus, Santana, and others.

Pitchfork has reached out to representatives for Woodstock 50 and JAY-Z for further comment.

Update (07/26 7:33 p.m. ET): According to a new report by Billboard, Dead & Company have also pulled out of Woodstock 50. The band includes John Mayer and original Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Bill Kreutzmann.
