Jay interviewed his wife in the first episode of his podcast, On Purpose. Speaking about how they met, the couple shared that Radhi's mother was actually the one who introduced them. Jay, who was a monk at the time, was asked to show Radhi's mother how to do a certain service at the temple. After meeting Jay, she suggested that her daughter look to get involved with programs at the temple for young people. She passed her daughter's number to Jay, but he passed it on to his sister Amy.

The couple met and occasionally interacted through the temple, but Radhi ended up spending much more time with Amy, who was also involved with temple programming. Radhi often heard Jay speaking to groups and said she was "in awe" of him and admired how he could "articulate such deep wisdom in a way that was so relevant to people who were so young."

After Jay left the monkhood, his sister shared with him that Radhi was interested in him, and they started dating shortly after.

"I'd seen her interact with other people ... I'd seen her personality, seen how she talked to other people and based on all those things I thought she was a great person. So when my sister told me that [Devlukia-Shetty was interested in me], I was secretly quite happy," Jay shared.

“I want it to be a guide, something that connects people back to their own bodies and the food they eat,” the self-taught chef said. “A place where I can share the tools and practices I have learned and used that transformed my relationship with myself, food and nature.”

The plant-based recipes are inspired by her Indian heritage, family recipes passed down to her and  “the places I’ve travelled and lived," which include New York, the United Kingdom and Los Angeles.

She and Jay starred in a Gap campaign

Radhi and Jay posed for Gap's 2023 holiday campaign. Following the big photo shoot, the couple spoke with PEOPLE about how "stressful, uncomfortable things" have accelerated their connection.

"In 2016, we got married, changed jobs, moved countries, and moved our home all within three months. And that's a lot,” Jay said. "I think that pressured us to really figure out how to operate together as a couple in a very intense time. I think big changes force big awareness."
