The post JAWNY Taps Beck for New Version of “take it back”: Stream appeared first on Consequence.
JAWNY released a collaborative version of his latest single “take it back” on Friday, June 17th, linking up with none other than Beck.
“Drivin’ backwards through a hole in the sun/ Hundred miles per hour and I’m feelin’ so numb/ Don’t know how I got here, there was nowhere to run/ Gotta find a way to get away from this love,” Beck croons on the track’s second verse before JAWNY picks up the fuzzed-out, chant-worthy pre-chorus: “So I, I take it back/ I take it back now/ I, I take it back/ I take it all back.”
The original single was released as part of the alt upstart’s 2021 EP The Story of Hugo. “I think it’s no secret that Beck has been a giant influence on me,” the artist formerly known as Johnny Utah said in a statement. “Getting to work with him on this record was nothing short of a full circle moment. Having him on the song and being able to play it live together was more than I could have ever imagined.” Stream JAWNY’s update on “take it back” featuring Beck below.
JAWNY is more than just Beck’s latest collaborator, however. He’s also opening for the Grammy winner on his current European tour. Next on the slate of dates is a stop at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town this Saturday (June 18) followed by shows in Paris and Dublin. Tickets are available here.
Next, Beck will head back to the US to support the Red Hot Chili Peppers on their summer tour alongside The Strokes, St. Vincent, HAIM, A$AP Rocky, Anderson .Paak, King Princess, and Thundercat. In the fall, he will then join Arcade Fire on their tour across the US, playing a special acoustic set to open each night starting October 28th in Washington, DC.
