Javy Baez steals home, shows off signature swim slide to evade tag

As if a steal of home isn’t exciting enough already, Javy Baez put his signature touch on the play Wednesday afternoon – which of course, like everything Baez does, made it just that much more fun.

He completed the steal in the fourth inning of the Cubs vs. Tigers game using his signature “swim slide” to elude catcher James McCann’s tag at the plate.

Take a closer look at the magical slide:

It’s rare that Baez gets to show off the move, but when he does, it’s amazing. He most famously did it playing for Team Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic last spring.

Baseball and swim skills don’t tend to go hand-in-hand, but Baez is pulling the combination off seamlessly.
