“Ted Lasso” star Jason Sudeikis accepted the Critics Choice Award for best comedy series just one week after winning a Golden Globe and stealing the spotlight with his memorable acceptance speech in a tie-dye sweatshirt. And on Sunday night he took a moment to thank his children and former fiancée Olivia Wilde for the award.

“I want to thank Otis and Daisy,” Sudeikis said. “I want to thank their mom Olivia, who had the initial idea to do this as a TV show. She was like, ‘You and Bill [Lawrence] and Joe [Kelly] love doing that so much you should do it as a TV show. I was, like, ‘No.’ She was right.”

Sudeikis and Wilde started dating in 2011 and have two children together, but they recently separated and now she is reportedly in a romantic relationship with former One Direction front-man Harry Styles. Despite the trials and tribulations, the Ted Lasso star is appreciative of all the encouragement and support he has received from Wilde.

“It's been a wacky year,” Sudeikis said. “It's been a wonderful vessel to hear people's stories of forgiveness and redemption and healing and understanding.”
