Jason Priestley Says He Punched Harvey Weinstein at a Golden Globes Party in the ’90s

Jason Priestley says he has done what many in Hollywood probably wish they had: punched Harvey Weinstein in the face.

Following the accusations rolling in about Weinstein’s attempt to blacklist Mira Sorvino and Ashley Judd – two actresses who have recently accused the disgraced movie mogul of sexual misconduct and threats to derail their careers if they spoke up — a friend of Priestley’s took to Twitter to recall a rather heated encounter between the disgraced mogul and the former star of “Beverly Hills 90210.”

“Heartbreaking….wouldn’t be surprised if this happened to my good friend @Jason_Priestley who punched Weinstein in the face at a club one night. Go Jay,” actress Tara Strong tweeted in response to Sorvino’s reaction to the blacklisting story.

When another user chimed in to ask if there was more to the story, Priestley responded with his own account.

“Of course there is more to the story…,” Priestley tweeted. “95 Golden Globes… at the Miramax Party… Harvey told me I had to leave… I was leaving when he grabbed me by the arm and said ‘what are you doing?’ I said ‘you told me leave, I’m leaving.'”

“‘I didn’t say you had to leave’ he replied,'” Priestley continued. “‘You just told me to leave… right over there’ I tell him once again. Getting heated now. He then grabs me tighter and says ‘why don’t we go outside and talk about this.’ That was all I needed to hear.”

“‘I’m not going anywhere with you’ I said as I pushed him back and punched him with a right hand to his face,” Priestley added. “Suddenly, there were security guards pulling us apart and I was escorted out of the party…”

Representatives for Priestley and Weinstein did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

“Bad Santa” director Terry Zwigoff has stepped forward Friday to say that Harvey and Bob Weinstein asked him not to even consider Sorvino for his 2003 dark comedy. Zwigoff’s statement follows one by Peter Jackson that the Weinstein brothers shot down Sorvino and Judd  for potential roles in his blockbuster “The Lord of the Rings.”

Judd and Sorvino both responded to Jackson’s original comments on the matter, made to New Zealand’s Stuff, in which he said Weinstein told him the actresses were a “nightmare” to work with.
