Warner Bros. has set an Oct. 5, 2018, release dates for Jason Momoa’s standalone tentpole Aquaman in 3D and Imax.

James Wan is directing the superhero film with Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, and Zack Snyder producing. It’s the first title to land on that date.

Warner Bros. said last year that the character would be caught between a surface world constantly ravaging the sea and Atlanteans, who are ready to lash out in revolt. The film is based on characters appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment.

Momoa was introduced as Aquaman in March in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and will reprise that role in Justice League.

Amber Heard also stars in the film as Mera, the love interest of Aquaman, and is expected to return for Aquaman. Justice League is set to bow on Nov. 17, 2017, with Snyder directing from a script by Chris Terrio.

Aquaman is set to begin shooting in Australia next year.
