Floods of fans lined up outside Brookfield's Total Wine & More on Thursday in hopes of meeting "Aquaman" superstar Jason Momoa. And, he ended up taking selfies with just about all of them.

Momoa came to town to promote his new premium vodka brand, Meili, with co-founder and friend Blaine Halvorson, according to the company's website. Halvorson is the creator of MadeWorn and Junk Food Clothing.

"Just really excited that he's here in Wisconsin and coming to our nice little area," said Tina Rossmiller of Janesville.

Rossmiller said she was around No. 50 in line when she arrived at 9:30 a.m. for the 2:30 p.m. event, filled with excitement to experience Momoa's "jovial" personality in real life.

Momoa and Halvorson are on their "Midwest Meili Vodka Bottle Signing Tour," autographing bottles and mingling with fans. They had been at New Berlin's Costco earlier in the day with similar fanfare.

While Renee Watson of Milwaukee doesn't drink, the Momoa superfan still wanted to own a bottle of his vodka.

"I've watched everything he's been in," Watson said. "I love Jason Momoa."

Around 3:15 p.m., an announcement was made to the massive crowd that hadn't gotten inside Total Wine yet that Momoa and Halvorson would be coming out to take selfies with those in line. And, that the bottles would be for sale inside the store.

From Total Wine's entrance, the line stretched along neighboring DSW, then Sierra Trading Post and Rockler Woodworking and Hardware. Around the corner, on the side of the shopping center, the line wormed up-and-down. The crowd eventually wrapped around the backside of the center and nearly reached the opposite end.

As it drizzled, Momoa and Halvorson weaved their way through the line. They had an entourage of police and Meili personnel accompanying them the whole way.

Attendees were instructed to face a certain direction and have their phones facing themselves ready as the duo would pass behind. Momoa carried a Marshall portable speaker in one arm and often popped up a shaka sign with his other hand in pics.

Occasionally, he would stop to have a moment with a fan, including one dressed like "Aquaman" — shirtless with a trident.

"The fact that he's around to do this kind of thing is insane," said attendee Annamarie Davidson. "He's such a down-to-earth guy. ... He came around and took selfies with us, and took videos with all the people in line that have been waiting. ... It was really, really cool."

She and her friends, all from Portage, originally went to Costco. But after seeing how long the line was there, they drove over to Total Wine.

It was the "perfect" girls day out. They had pizza delivered while in line, scored the vodka and made new friends they were planning to meet up with afterward.

Like many, Chris Krasovich was first introduced to "this dream of an individual" when he played Khal Drogo on "Game of Thrones," and has been a huge fan of his ever since.

Also like many, she said she would marry him if he asked.

"He obviously is gorgeous and charismatic," said Krasovich, a Pewaukee resident. "But, we're also interested because he's progressive and focusing on sustainable packaging and delivering a product that's superior. And, so we were excited about the vodka, too."

Meili Vodka big on sustainability

Meili Vodka, which has been in the works for seven years, is designed to be enjoyed neat, or without any ice, water or mixers, the brand's website said. Its flavor profile is described as bright, smooth and effortless.

The vodka — handcrafted in Montana — uses water that's "considered one of the purest on Earth" and grains that are sourced from their own farms, which are centrally located to the water source and distillery, according to the website.

The brand is big on sustainability. No two bottles the vodka comes in are alike because they're created from 100% post-consumer recycled glass, the site said.

"He's done a lot for the planet, which I think is super cool," Jen Lindner, a Brookfield resident, said at the event. "He just does a lot of good with the power that he has, and I think that's pretty amazing."

"He's just a great guy, and this vodka is pure and the bottle's recycled glass. And, that means a lot," said Christine Purves of Sun Prairie. "And, he's hot."

She attended the event with her brother, Bill Henker, who was heading to a gaming convention in Minnesota. And, Minnesota is actually also where the Meili tour is headed next.

"I might try to see him tomorrow, too," Henker said.
