Jason Momoa says being a dad is one of the drivers behind his passion for protecting the environment.

Speaking with PEOPLE at the premiere of Common Grounda new documentary film that focuses on the need for sustainable and eco-friendly farming, the Aquaman actor, 44, opened up about teaching his kids the importance of living an environmentally-conscious lifestyle.

"I feel like I'm doing it and I'm almost force-feeding my children too much," the father of two — who shares son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo, 15, and daughter Lola Iolani, 16, with ex Lisa Bonet — tells PEOPLE.

"I took it to their school and we played it at their school, and it was fun to watch all their friends watching it, but I'm like, secretly, I wish they even took it more to the next level," he continues.

"I mean, I want the next generation to take it even more. And they are, some people are, but you just got to deal with what feels good to you and it just fuels me. That's what I'm fighting for."

Appearing on the cover of Men's Health for their May/June 2023 issue, the Fast X actor talked about teaching his two children that it's "okay to fall" through their mutual love of rock climbing.

"That's the thing I try to teach my children right now. There's nothing worth doing if it's not gonna be hard and it's not gonna be a struggle. It's okay to fall. You fall, you get back up and do it again," he told the outlet.

"They wanna be perfect and they're afraid; they think if you fall, it's bad. But I'm like, 'No, falling is great, man. Falling is great 'cause you're gonna succeed if you keep doing it,' " he continued. "I would never teach acting, but the one thing I could teach is climbing. It gives us this massive bond, and we go outside and do it. It's the ultimate thing for me."

Momoa is also stepdad to Bonet's daughter with Lenny Kravitz, actress Zoë Kravitz. Several weeks after confirming the breakup with Bonet, Momoa showed up to support Kravitz at the New York City premiere of her movie The Batman in March 2022, bringing her younger siblings along.

In a December 2020 interview with Men's Health, the Dune actor said Zoë is a great role model for Lola.

"I hope and pray my daughter is that talented and loving and open and close to her family," he told the outlet.
