Jason Mewes Opens Up About Being a 'Dancing Dad' as Ballerina Daughter, 8, Performs in “The Nutcracker”

The father of two opened up about volunteering for the experience

Jason Mewes would do anything for his little girl.

Appearing on Marc Summers' Unwraps podcast, the Jay and Silent Bob star, 48, opened up about getting into ballet with daughter Logan, 8, who has been dancing for five years.

"Right now I've been going to rehearsals. I don't do ballet but my kid, my daughter, has been doing ballet since she was 3. So now she's doing The Nutcracker and she's practicing four days a week."

Explaining that her program offers an opportunity for "Dancing Dads" to join their little ones, he admitted that when he first agreed, he thought the job had lower stakes.

"I'm thinking I'm going to go in, do a couple of moves. But it's full-on, I'm going in with her four days a week to rehearse dance moves for this play," laughing that it doesn't "come easy."

Mewes has been giving glimpses of the endeavor on his Instagram throughout the month, sharing a sweet post about supporting his daughter as she worked through nerves related to the performance.

"This weekend, Logan will perform in her first Nutcracker with @maratdaukayevballet. I volunteered to be a 'Dancing Dad' and be part of the show. I’m no dancer but I know how it feels to be overwhelmed during a performance," he wrote.

"The other night Logan missed a step during the rehearsal of her solo and was so disappointed. I was backstage in the wings and able to give my daughter a hug and be there for her - one of the most important people in my life. I love you Logan. When I feel panicked and wonder why I volunteered, I remind myself of this 🩰 🕺."

Mewes also shares son Lucien Lee, 10 months, with wife Jordan Monsanto. The couple wed in an intimate civil ceremony in January 2009.

Mewes welcomed Lucien in February, announcing the news on his Instagram.

The 9-month-old was born on Sunday, Feb. 12, the actor revealed, weighing 6 lbs., 13 oz. and measuring 19½ inches.

"Fast & furious…he almost arrived in the backseat of my car at the hospital entrance," he captioned a set of photos from the day of the newborn's arrival.

"Thank you to our doula @iamhaizehawke, Dr Campbell & the team at Cedars-Sinai for the safe delivery of baby boy. We are home, and Mom & baby are doing great. Our lives are forever changed. Less sleep than last week but worth it 🤍."
