Jason Kelce briefly tried to recruit Joe Burrow to UC Bearcats

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bearcat?

That’s something former University of Cincinnati Bearcats star Jason Kelce briefly tried to make happen when Burrow’s collegiate career was about to make the jump from Ohio State to LSU.

Speaking on his “New Heights” podcast with fellow former Bearcats star Travis Kelce, Jason told Rich Eisen that somebody sent him Burrow’s number and asked him to recruit the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback to UC.

Kelce said that this occurred while Burrow was in the transfer portal and that the idea was Luck Fickell, head coach of UC at the time, had helped recruit Burrow to OSU.

Kelce said after some brief text back-and-forth that all he sent was “I hope you keep Cincinnati in mind when you’re trying to decide where to go.”

Of course, Kelce says Burrow made the best possible decision and did a great job ignoring his suggestion given the success he had at LSU before returning to Cincinnati anyway as the No. 1 pick.

While that unfolded, UC found Desmond Ridder, who led them to the first non-power five school College Football Playoff berth.
