Jason Aldean and Brittany Aldean got married in 2015 and now have a blended family

Jason Aldean and his wife, Brittany Kerr Aldean, support each other.

The country singer was first spotted with the former American Idol contestant in 2012 and they began dating the following year. When they were first photographed together, Jason was still married to his wife of 11 years, Jessica Ussery.

Jason and Brittany got married in 2015 and have since welcomed two children, a son named Memphis and a daughter named Navy. Their two kids joined a blended family which includes Jason's elder daughters from his marriage to Ussery.

September 2012: Jason and Brittany Aldean are spotted together

In September 2012, Jason and Brittany were spotted together at a bar in Los Angeles. At the time, Jason was married to his high school sweetheart, Ussery. As TMZ first reported, the pair were photographed kissing at The Den in West Hollywood.

A few days later, Jason issued an apology on X (formerly Twitter), writing, "The truth is that I screwed up. I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar. I left alone, caught the bus to our next show and that's the end of the story. I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself."

Brittany also apologized for the photos, telling TMZ, "The actions I portrayed recently were not a representation of my true character, but a lapse in judgment on my part. I would like to sincerely apologize to everyone that has been affected by this, including my friends & family."

March 2014: Jason and Brittany begin officially dating

A year after his 2013 divorce from Ussery, PEOPLE confirmed that Jason and Brittany had become an official couple.

While the pair kept a low profile at first, Brittany was seen at one of Jason's concerts that month.

August 2014: Jason addresses his relationship with Brittany

Jason and Brittany both received criticism during the early phases of their relationship due to the images of the pair kissing while he was still married to Ussery. After a couple of months of dating, Jason addressed the backlash on his Instagram.

"So sick of people judging me and @brittanylkerr over things they know nothing about," he wrote in the caption. "I have made mistakes but I am a better person because of it, and wouldn't change a thing. I'm happier than I have ever been, so thank u to all the people who support us. September 2014: Jason and Brittany get engaged

Six months after their relationship became public, Jason and Brittany announced that they were engaged.

A few days later, Brittany posted a photo of her and her fiancé kissing on Instagram, which showed off her engagement ring.

March 21, 2015: Jason and Brittany get married in Mexico

Shortly after completing his Burn It Down Tour, Jason and Brittany wed in Mexico on March 21, 2015.

A few weeks later, Jason opened up to PEOPLE about their first few days as a married couple. "I feel like our life is a honeymoon," the singer said.

Jason also shared that he was hoping to have children with his new wife as soon as possible. "In the next couple of years, probably, we definitely want to have kids," he said.

April 2015: Jason thanks Brittany at the ACM Awards

Just one month after tying the knot, Jason praised his wife during his acceptance speech at the ACM Awards.

He took home the award for male vocalist of the year and dedicated it to Brittany and his two daughters from his first marriage, Keeley and Kendyl.

September 2016: Jason opens up about his marriage to Brittany

After tying the knot with Brittany, Jason said he still felt judged by some of his fans. Eventually, he wrote "They Don't Know" to respond to the scrutiny.

"People are very opinionated about things they're not really aware of," the singer told PEOPLE at the time. "I'm not going to spend all my time defending myself. I am what I am. People that know me or know my situation, they actually know."

Jason went on to explain that regardless of what some fans may think, he and Brittany are a great match — even if they have different musical tastes.

In May 2017, Jason and Brittany announced on social media that they were expecting their first child together.

On Dec. 1, 2017, Jason and Brittany welcomed their son, Memphis. The couple announced the birth on both of their Instagram accounts.

July 2018: Jason and Brittany announce they are expecting their second baby

In July 2018, Jason and Brittany announced on Instagram that they were expecting their second child, just seven months after the birth of their son. "Here we go again!" Brittany wrote in her post.

Shortly after the announcement, Jason spoke to PEOPLE about how the couple had used IVF to get pregnant quickly.

"It was definitely something we had planned," the Grammy-nominated artist said. "After having our son, we knew we wanted to have two kids. In November 2018, Brittany and Jason gave PEOPLE an exclusive look at their tropical-themed baby shower where they revealed their daughter's name would be Navy.

July 2020: Jason makes a music video with Brittany and their children

In July 2020, Jason made an ode to his wife and family in his music video for the song "Got What I Got."

The music video features clips of Brittany, their two children and his two daughters from his first marriage. The video even gives fans a glimpse into the family's personal life.

October 2020: Jason and Brittany reflect on the Las Vegas shooting

The 2017 Las Vegas shooting during Jason's set at the Route 91 Harvest music festival, which killed 60 people and left over 400 injured, was devastating for the couple.

On the three-year anniversary of the tragedy, Jason and Brittany opened up on Instagram about the act of violence and honored the lives that were lost. "That night was probably the worst night of our lives and not a day goes by that we don't think about the people who lost their lives and the families who have forever been affected by it," Jason wrote, adding, "October 1st will always be a day for us that is extremely hard to relive."

Brittany posted about her experience on the same day as well. "Little did we know our lives would change forever," she wrote. "The sound, the chaos, the overwhelming sadness and heartache ... it's something that never leaves you."

November 2021: Jason opens up about his family life with Brittany

By 2021, Jason's priorities had shifted — largely thanks to his wife, Brittany.

"It's a hell of a lot different," he told PEOPLE. "I'm a lot more settled in my 40s than I was in my 20s. I'm in a different place in life. I don't feel so much like I'm trying to prove myself every single day and trying to chase this thing that seems so out of reach."

The singer also opened up about how his life had changed during his second marriage, including his focus on eating healthier.

"It's kind of what you do when you're married," he said. "The biggest thing with us is we're super supportive of each other. She's been really good at trying to carve her own path, starting little businesses and doing her own thing. I try to be as supportive as I can of what she's got going on. And she does that with me. It's a good little team."

All in all, Jason expressed satisfaction with where he was in life. "I got four beautiful kids," he continued. "I got a beautiful wife and had a great career. I'm a lot more settled now than I was by far in my 20s. I'm just a lot more at peace."

March 7, 2022: Jason thanks Brittany at the ACM Awards

At the 2022 ACM Awards, Jason and fellow country star Carrie Underwood won single of the year for their duet "If I Didn't Love You."

During his speech, Jason gave his wife a special shout-out. "My family, my wife — we just celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary yesterday, I love you baby," he said.

As awards season came to a close, Brittany reciprocated the love and showed her husband some support on Instagram.

March 21, 2022: Jason and Brittany celebrate their seventh anniversary

In late March 2022, the couple celebrated another milestone: their seventh wedding anniversary. Both Jason and Brittany shared touching tributes on Instagram, with Brittany posting two wedding photos and Jason sharing a series of sweet moments from throughout their relationship.

July 2023: Brittany defends Jason and his song "Try That In A Small Town"

Brittany seemingly defended Jason after his song "Try That In A Small Town" received criticism of being pro-gun and racist, including from fellow country artists like Sheryl Crow.

The video features news clips of protests projected onto a Tennessee courthouse set to lyrics including, "Stomp on the flag and light it up / Yeah, ya think you're tough / Well, try that in a small town / See how far ya make it down the road." Critics called out its glamorization of gun ownership in the light of Jason's own experience with a mass shooting and its potential encouragement of violence.

"Never apologize for speaking the truth❣️🇺🇸," Brittany wrote on Instagram with a selfie of her and Jason four days after the video was released.

May 2024: Jason celebrates Mother's Day with Brittany

On Mother's Day in 2024, Jason shared a video of himself, Brittany and their children to the tune of his song "Let Your Boys Be Country."

"Here’s to all the mamas who let their kids be country!" he wrote in the caption. "So grateful for my wife, mom and bonus mom today and every day. Happy Mother’s Day!"
