After decades of success in the entertainment industry, Jasmine Guy has won her first-ever Emmy Award.

The veteran actress claimed the golden trophy over the weekend (Jan. 6) during the first night of the two-part Creative Arts Emmy Awards, held at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

The ceremony is typically held in September, however, the 75th annual ceremonies were rescheduled due to the dual Screen Actors Guild — American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and Writers Guild of America (WGA) strikes.

Guy was recognized as Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for her role as Barbara Baldwin in the Chronicles Of Jessica Wu series.

“I’m grateful that you included me in this project” shared the 62-year-old in a message to Chronicles Of Jessica Wu creators when claiming her victory. “Thank you for keeping me in this creative community.”

Guy’s win at the 75th Creative Arts Emmy Awards comes decades following her breakout role as Whitley Gilbert on A Different World from 1987 through 1993. She stood up against Nathalie Emmanuel and Paula Pell for their respective work in Die Hart 2: Die Harter.

An edited presentation of the Creative Arts Emmys is set to air on Saturday (Jan. 13) at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FXX, and will be available for streaming on Hulu on Sunday, Jan. 14. The Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Anthony Anderson, will broadcast live next Monday at 5:00 p.m. PT / 8:00 p.m. ET on FOX.
