White House senior adviser Jared Kushner visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem on August 30 ahead of a trip a day later to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the first direct commercial flight to that country from Israel.
In a meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Kushner praised the UAE-Israel deal announced on August 13. “While this peace agreement was thought by many to be impossible, the stage is now set for even more,” said Kushner, applauding a “previously unthinkable” cooperation between the UAE and Israel.
