Psychedelic soul-pop singer-songwriter Janelle Monae has broadened her upcoming tour to include a concert at Mershon Auditorium on Sept. 15.

Genre-bending singer-songwriter Janelle Monáe has extended her North American tour to include a stop at Mershon Auditorium, located at 1871 N. High St. on the Ohio State campus, on Sept. 15.

Her last appearance in Columbus was in 2011 with Katy Perry.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday at ticketmaster.com. Pre-sales begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Monáe, who walks a fine line between avant-garde and mainstream, has released several studio albums including 2013's "Electric Lady," the fourth and fifth installments of her seven-part "Metropolis" concept series. The album debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.

Prior to that, she was a guest vocalist on fun.'s hit, "We Are Young," which went to No. 1 in the U.S. and more than 10 other countries and widened Monáe's fan base.

The 37-year-old artist has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards and has won many others for both her music and her work in film and TV.

Monáe's filmography includes a supporting role in the 2016 Academy Award-winning drama "Moonlight," which took home Oscars for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali) and Best Adapted Screenplay. She also starred in the Oscar-nominated films "Hidden Figures" and "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery."

Last year, Monáe's added "author" to her résumé with the publication of her first novel, “The Memory Librarian,” an anthology of futuristic, dystopian sci-fi stories set in a totalitarian society called New Dawn.
