She succeeds Julia Roberts for the leading role in the Amazon psychological thriller

Janelle Monáe has been cast in the second season of “Homecoming,” Amazon’s psychological thriller drama series helmed by Sam Esmail (“Mr. Robot”), Deadline reports. She succeeds Julia Roberts, who played the leading role in the show’s first season. According to Deadline, Monáe “plays a tenacious woman who finds herself floating in a canoe, with no memory of how she got there.” In a post on Instagram, Monáe wrote, “Excited and ready for this wild ride.”

Monáe, who released her latest album Dirty Computer last year, previously played leading roles in Hidden Figures and Moonlight.
