More from Variety

In the multi-cam sitcom, after being dumped by her boyfriend and kicked out of her apartment on the eve of a big promotion, Amy (Woodward) finds refuge at her mom’s (Lynch) house in the blue-collar neighborhood where she grew up. Amy reconnects with her teenage niece, living there due to Amy’s sister’s latest rehab stint, and resolves to stay when she realizes that her mom and niece aren’t quite equipped to go it alone.

Lynch’s character, Helen, is described as rough around the edges and salty as hell, but the most loyal woman you’ll ever meet.

Lynch is one of the most celebrated comedy actresses working today. She is a 12-time Emmy nominee, having won awards for her time on “Glee,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” for hosting “Hollywood Game Night,” and for the short form series “Dropping the Soap.” She also won a Golden Globe in 2011 for “Glee.” Lynch’s feature credits include “Best in Show,” “A Mighty Wind,” “Role Models,” “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,” and the “Wreck-It Ralph” animated franchise. She currently hosts NBC’s reboot of “The Weakest Link.”

She is repped by Realm Talent and Hansen Jacobson.

“Bucktown” is written and executive produced by Emily Wilson. Sara Gilbert and Tom Werner of “The Conners” will also executive produce the pilot along with Marc Provissiero and Mandy Summers. Betsy Thomas is set to executive produce and direct the pilot. ABC Signature will serve as the studio.
